Europoort. Today's theme is electricity. Not the most inspiring one to me to be honest, but as it happens, I visited the Rotterdam industry area 'Europoort' recently where I took this photo of barren lands and electricity poles to accompany them. Click here to view thumbnails for all participants

Putting up those huge power lines is a feat! I appreciate those workers and these imposing structures.

Power to the people. Do you pay for it based on the kilowatts used? The more you use the more you pay. That is how it is here.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and this was never more true than when I look at industrial infrastructure. I see the skill of the smelter, the steel worker, the crane operator, the linesman. It's not the Mona Lisa, but the fact that our civilisation comes to us on wires strung on these towers is to me a very beautiful thing!

I like Buck's comment. All these wires are life lines to many.
