Zomerhofstraat. NU HIER is an initiative that links vacant sites with users from the neighbourhood, schools, clubs, corporations, and associations. Their cooperation and combined entrepreneurship is the engine behind what in this case is a project on the periphery of the centre of Rotterdam.

Beukelsdijk. Sometimes you have to be very quick. Especially at this roundabout nothing seems to last long.

Wijkpark Oude Westen. The giant of Rotterdam as he was called during his lifetime (1922- 1959) was over 7 feet and 6,5 inches and his shoe size was 62. This statues showes him in real-life measures.

De Doelen. When Valery Gergiev became Principal Conductor in 1995 he and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra decided to hold an ambitious multi-day musical event. One year later, they presented the Rotterdam Philharmonic Gergiev Festival for the first time.
A couple of days ago I went and saw the opera The Trojans where Kseniya Simonova from the Ukrain also played a part. If you havent heard from her yet, be sure to click on the link. Fantastic!

Witte de Withstraat. Bill Drummond is making 40 beds. From wood. By hand. In public. Other than those made for family and colleagues, each of the 40 beds are being raffled off to any passers-by willing to buy a ticket, for a nominal price. The 40 beds are not the art . The thoughts, dreams and actions that happen in these beds, on these beds or underneath these beds is the art.During the Wereld van Witte de With Bill Drummond is making one bed. At the end of the festival which is today, Bill Drummond will give a lecture on his bed making project. Then the bed will be raffled of to the festival public!

Coolsingel. This megaphone in a box is part of the experience bij Michael Elmgreen and Ingmar Dragset. Everyday for the rest of the year, a man walks up to this box just before noon. When the clock strikes he opens the door, wait for the striking to end, takes up the megaphone and shouts out; It's never too late to say sorry.
He then puts it away, locks up the box and walks out of there.

Müllerpier. I know this one is not edgy sharp but I like the sort of film noir scenery and the light. This weekend the World Port days are celebrated in Rotterdam. If you are too late for tickets simply come tonight around 8 to the Erasmusbridge (or somewhere near there) to hear the free concert and see the fireworks afterwards.
ps; the dragon symbolizes Rotterdam's friendship and business connections with China and especially the 2 world ports connections.

Aert van Nesstraat. Today's theme is about Perspective. Not only is there depth in this photo but why I choose this particular photo is because on the lamppost it says: (you have to enlarge to read it):
1. take a picture of the people across the street
2. send to: submit@collectivewaitingportret.net.
And that just give a whole new perspective to waiting :)
