The little ice bear that was born in the beginning of December last year is out and ready for the world to be seen.

Station Blaak. May 2, 1877, the first railway station on this location was opened, then called Rotterdam Beurs.

Rodezand. A couple of days ago this green project was presented in the place where the new city office is going to be . There are benches and a public square in front of it, so that anyone can follow the greening of the facade.

Oude Binnenweg. Mongrel 'Fikkie' has once been stolen but has been back on it's place for years in a row now.

Vroesenpark. Where do you go to when you live 2 or 3 high and the weather is like this? One of the urban green shelters. I found out that this parc is originally planned as a work project after the crisis of 1929 and that half of it was destroyed/cut during the famine of 1944.

Karel Doormanstraat. The back of bin in gallery Via Kunst. VIA Kunst ( " Via Art " ) is a gallery and workshop for “street related artists”. The project offers shelter, material, guidance, support and exhibition possibilities to the home- and roofless, (ex) drug addicts, psychiatric patients, refugees and others who have few or no possibilities for creative expression. Participating in the project is free of charge.

Heemraadssingel. The beautiful weather is holding on at least till this weekend. Hooray!

Karel Doormanstraat. A couple more days now and it is Easter. This bakery had all sort of beautiful eggs and chocolate bunnies.

Van Oldenbarneveltplaats. This post is dedicated to Gerald from Hyde Daily Photo. He started his site about the same time around when I did 5 years ago and is a gifted poet. The text says; a haiku builds a (whole new) universe of seventeen syllables (the brackets were needed to make it right :) )

Halstraat. Summer blossom and a nice terrace. Have a great Saturday everyone!

Walenburgerweg. This villa from 1909 has been fully restored and together with the neighbouring convent, offers shelter for homeless youth between 17 and 23.

Otto Reuchlinweg. Restaurant Las Palmas was meant as a pure fish restaurant. Yesterday we learned their menu's contain a lot of meat too. According to our waiter the price of fish went up too much so in order not to loose too many clients, they switched over.

Hoogstraat. The beautiful weather is gone all of a sudden and we are back to low 50ties (F)/11 C.

Eendrachtssingel. The fashion this summer is all about bright colours and this part of the city seemed to fit in for a while.

Coolsingel. Unfortunately I couldn't be there yesterday at the Rotterdam marathon but thanks to Danielle this shot of some of the people on their last meters.

Beukelsweg. We have all been there. Sometimes even with another sleeping child in a front chair.

Eendrachtsplein on an early morning. The bronze statue of singer and poet Speenhoff was placed opposite bookstore Van Gennep on behalf of their 20th anniversary.

Westblaak, across from where Barend Jan shot his skating photo's recently, is this skate shop, with die hard skaters as crew working there. Looks like the kind of shop my sons would rather go in without me.

Taking the water cab in Rotterdam, gives you a whole new (in)sight on the city.

Overblaak. Cube houses, are a set of innovative houses built in Rotterdam and Helmond in the Netherlands, designed by architect Piet Blom in 1984. Blom tilted the cube of a conventional house 45 degrees, and rested it upon a hexagon-shaped pylon. The walls and windows are angled at 54.7 degrees. The total area of the apartment is around 100 square meters, but around a quarter of the space is unusable because of the walls that are under the angled ceilings. Today's theme day is about edges.
