Hotel NY. Yesterday we had a little get together in the Dutch Daily Photo community :) On the back you see Jeroen from Venlo, next to him Henri en Kees from Gouda and on the right Peter from Tilburg. Very nice to meet everyone and share thoughts and idea's. I also grab this opportunity to call out to other people interested in starting their own blog. Come on you guys in Den Haag, Utrecht, Groningen, or Rotterdam itself! If you want to participate or have questions, simply leave a comment and I will get back to you as best as I can.
Thanks for organizing Peter and next year a meet up in Tilburg!

Claes de Vrieselaan. I am having a hard time with finding suitable situations for Rotterdam daily photo at the moment. The weather is usually wet and dark by the time I am outside or it is allready dark (at 5 pm!). This afternoon however I am meeting up with the other Dutch daily photobloggers and you can bet I am showing you something tomorrow.

Schouwburgplein. Last weekend several cities in the Netherlands organised protests against the over targeted cutbacks our government wants to make in the cultural sector. All over theater, dance and cultural organisaties (ranging from the biggest Zoo in Rotterdam till orchestra's) performed for free using the slogan; The Netherlands screams for culture. In Rotterdam, people took that literally.

Parklaan. If you are looking for a christmas fair to go to today, try the Swedish one in the Swedish church. They are open between 11 and 5 p.m.

Stationsplein. It looks as if Sinterklaas is just being skipped. Lots of malls and shopping areas have their Christmas decorations up before Sinterklaas has even started.

1e Middellandstraat. I have no idea even in what language these book covers are, but I found them in the window shop of a cultural centre. Any arabist out there who can help me out?

Van Oosterzeestraat. I had walked by this street a hundred times but only yesterday noticed their cute fronts.

Maastoren, 44th floor. Guys, how cool is this? This photo is not tricked or manipulated in ANY way! As you can see we had some very thick fog yesterday and thanks to Emanuel you get the see the tip of the Euromast and the tip of the Erasmusbridge sticking out above the clouds. Thanks Emanuel!

Willemsplein. And for those of you who think Sinterklaas is for children....

Monday, November 15, 2010

Beukelsdijk. After the rain this weekend in Belgium and Limburg, we need some sun out here! Predictions are better so let's hope everyone can get back in their houses again and start cleaning up the mud.

Sunday, November 14, 2010

Willemsplein. Sinterklaas arrived in the Netherlands yesterday. Officially in Harderwijk but his aids arrived everywhere there was a harbor. To warm up the crowds, the black Pete's arrived early handing out lots of Pepernoten and other Sinterklaas candy.

Looking outside at a rainy Deliplein from within restaurant Kwiezien. A very nice discovery at the south shore of Rotterdam.

Mushy mushroom in a wet Kralingse Bos.

Thursday, November 11, 2010

Witte de Withstraat. What is it now? 7 more weeks or so? With this weather (there is a HUGE storm predicted for today and tomorrow) I wish I could sit at home all day listening to Wham.

Wednesday, November 10, 2010

Schieweg. People coming to the Netherlands and expecting us to walk on clogs may be disappointed. On the other hand, I know someone from close by who still does. Some people use them when then work in the garden and don't want to mess up their other shoes. Anyway, as you see, you CAN still buy them.

Grote Bibliotheek. The Netherlands reads, (following One book, one city) it says on the card. What do we read? De grote zaal from Jacoba van Velden about elderly care and a woman that wakes up one morning in a hospital bed and doesnt remember how she came there. It is one of the most translated Dutch books and free available in most libraries.

Monday, November 08, 2010

Beukelsdijk. I have been away on a friends' weekend full of stormy and rainy weather and hope this week will bring a bit more sun.

Sunday, November 07, 2010

Witte de With, Next to the restaurant, Bazar also has a hotel. Must admit, I have never been their guest, but it looks fabulous.

Westerkade. Bikes are more and more discovered as green advertorial media. Saddle covers, transport crates or simply the bikes itself. If you are interested in winning a customized bike,my company is giving one away!

Delistraat. Tattoo Bob is a well known artist, not only in Rotterdam but I guess in the Netherlands. Nowadays his family business is still housed in the part of Rotterdam where he started about 40 years ago. Back then mostly sailors who docked here, came to visit, now the link shows all sorts of visitors.

O yes, now that we got into wintertime this weekend and it gets dark at 6pm, there is only the thought of these boys at home to keep you going.

Weena. After Rotterdam changed into the new public transport ticket and payment; the OV chipcard, riding without a ticket seemed lowered. Mostly because for the subway (metro) you had to pass a gate that had to be opened with your card. In the tram however, you can still 'ride black' as we call it. This uniformed group of controllers is going to raide the next tram coming and will also check people quickly trying to get out!

It's the first of the month today and therefor THEME day again, with today's theme being Public Transportation. Click here to view thumbnails for all participants.
