Wilhelminakade. Restaurant Las Palmas is one of the restaurants of one of Rotterdams famous' chefs Herman den Blijker. I have dined there several times but never witnessed him at work. Too busy with his tv shows probably.

Beukelsdijk. This building fascinated me when the shades were up. Not that we've had much sun recently, it's been grey and rain most of the time, but the funny thing is, that sign you see in the right corner for Payter is from a prospect i visited a couple of months ago.
It's a pretty cool firm, designing and implementing software on your mobile phone with which you can pay parking tickets, regular stuff in several shops, concert tickets etc.

Westzeedijk, Kaufmann's 'skin trade'
The skin trade in the Netherlands and also in Rotterdam was mainly in jewish hands. Carl Kaufmann (1866-1938) played an important role in the jewish community. He was a member of the board of the Israelian orphanage and the president of the Rotterdam Skin and Leather Exahange Fair.
Nowadays the front is all that is left. The building hosts apartments and among others a police station.

This statue is placed on the other side from yesterdays building. I am pretty sure he has something to do with the harbor but really have no idea who he was.
A salute to an unknown dude!

West-Kruiskade, WATT
Last Thursday I have been to a perfromance of the American band Tower of Power. I love a good 'life' band and they can certainly work with the crowd. Besides i also love a big horn section so in short simply had a good night.

Restaurant Allure, tulip vase and fancy water.
The tulip vase was invented in the 17th century. Back then the tulip was a very expensive and scarse flower. The tulip vase had to be so beautiful that even without flowers it would stand out and show its value. The vase was originally painted in 'Delfsts blue'paint, build up in layers and had openings on the sides where the tulips were stuck in.

Nowadays you get 50 tulips for about 3 dollars, so the showing off part of the vase is no longer functioning. On the other hand if you put some designers water right next to it, it does give the place a certain "air"

First of the month, so Theme day again and today the theme is Paths and Passages.
What you see is a ticket for the International Filmfestival for today. Robbert, Chelsea and I will have route 4 today.
For today, you can only order random routes. I have no idea which 5 movies I am going to see. Hopefully they're all good but I am pretty sure there are some I would never have picked myself. Still that's one of the attractions of today.
