Westzeedijk. Although JP Gaultier's exhibition in de Kunsthal has ended, the Euromast hasnot lost its stripes yet.

Museumpark. A tribute to the Dutch contestant Anouk for the Eurovision Song Festival yesterday evening. For the first time in 9 yrs we made it to the finals and ended up with a 9th position.

C.P. Tielestraat. A couple of weeks ago my son needed new guitar strings and we ended up in this tiny shop literally packed with guitars (and drums). It's called El Mono Flamenco and I am pretty sure that if you are looking for something or for lessons, you are at the right address here.

Kievietslaan. Behing this gate is Parc Schoonoord. Open each and every day, almost 300 yrs old (!) and once belonging to the wealthy Mees family.

Nieuwe Binnenweg. Street overview.

The Bombing of Rotterdam (occasionally referred to as the Rotterdam Blitz) refers to the aerial bombardment of Rotterdam by the German Air Force on 14 May 1940, during the German invasion of the Netherlands in World War II. The objective was to support the German troops fighting in the city, break Dutch resistance and force the Dutch to surrender. Even though preceding negotiations resulted in a ceasefire, the bombardment took place nonetheless, in conditions which remain controversial, and destroyed almost the entire historic city centre, killing nearly nine hundred civilians and leaving 30,000 people homeless.

Kralingse Plas. Twas a good day for sailing and have a look at Rotterdam's skyline.

Mathenesserlaan. It's going to be another splendid day today and since we celebrate Liberation day there will be festivals and music everywhere. Enjoy!

Beukelsweg. A couple of days ago I went home from walking the dog when our neighborhood was in quite a state; a fire in one of the apartments and a toddler inside. Luckily he was saved and from what I know is fine.

Doenkade. It took only 2 or 3 days of sun to let all the trees blossom.

1e Middellandstraat. It seems our new King has a great influence on the weather because it's finally starting to look something.

Nieuwe Binnenweg. It took me forever to decide where to shoot for today's theme; The creative artisan. Finally I came up with Koekela, where they sell handmade (sort of :)  cookies, brownies, cakes and all sorts of delicious goodies.

Weena. Today is the day of the abdication of Queen Beatrix and our King to-be, her son, Willem-Alexander. A very special day, hopefully without any incidents.

My place. Only one more day and from what it looks like a Sunny and dry day too. Wow. Above several of the orange items for (the last) Queensday tomorrow; a special edition of the Donald Duck about the abdication, of course orange pastry and special orange sprinkels.

Nieuwe Binnenweg. I liked these fronts and the old fashioned add Staalwaren.

Westersingel. Arminius church, according to their website the only Rotterdam church in Jugendstil mode, built between 1895 and 1897.

My place. A couple of days before the abdication, our country is seriously getting ready for the last Queensday. Today 1,5 million schoolkids between 4-12 yrs have breakfast at school, watch a tv special where our future king and queen will address them and then have a day full of games and sports, called "Koningsspelen".

Admiraliteitskade. Big office buildings along "Boerengat".

Boezemweg. I have passed this tree numerous times but only yesterday noticed the shoes!

Parklaan. Although probably no longer real gold, this is a posh area so you never know.

Hofplein. I felt a bit like Jilly Bennet here. Who knows I might even start Rotterdam dogs :)

Haringvliet. Always a nice piece of Rotterdam, this area I think.
